Sample Deregistration Letters

Please see below the basic outline of a letter to deregister your child from a school in England.
You do not need to give advance notice to the school, you decide when you want your child to be deregistered. When you have sent the letter or email, make sure they confirm receipt.
That’s it! You are then a Home Educator.
Congratulations, you can now personalise your child’s experience with learning.

The School Attendance (Pupil Registration) (England) Regulations 2024 came into force on August 19th 2024. The sample deregistration letters below are updated for the new regulation.
