ConquerMaths Additional Information

GCSE and IGCSE Content

You can find everything for GCSE level in Conquer Maths and this would apply to all the main specifications – Pearson / Edexcel, AQA, OCR / Cambridge. Depending on the school, different topics can be covered at different stages. However, you can find most of what you need in the ConquerMaths KS4 curriculum. This would include most of the Grade 7/8/9 topics like:

  • The circle theorems
  • Equation of a circle
  • Sine Rule, Cosine Rule, Area of a Triangle
  • Solving Trig equations
  • Vectors
  • Linear + non-linear simultaneous equations

There are a very small number of topics that may not be fully covered in the KS4 section of Conquer Maths. However, these are covered beautifully in the ConquerMaths Year 12 section to which you have full access. These would include, for example:

  • Harder Trig equations
  • More advanced Coordinate geometry
  • Equation of the tangent and normal to a circle

IGCSE Content

You may be aware that IGCSE has some differences from GCSE. The main one of these is the inclusion of calculus / differentiation. As with the topics above, this can be found beautifully covered in the Year 12 section of ConquerMaths.

  • We just switched to conquer maths because IXL seemed great to start with but doesn’t really give you much in the way of teaching, turned out more a testing program
  • Heard a lot of people recommend conquer maths. Looked at the sample lessons for free, they are set out very logically and broken down into easy chunks from what I’ve seen.
  • I can’t recommend Conquer maths highly enough! Fantastic resource! Xx
  • I’ve used conquer maths with my older ones. I’m using Mathseeds for the youngest, but will be moving him to conquer maths when he is a little older. I think that it is a lot better than anything else we have used.
  • We really like ConquerMaths and have been using it for many years now. Plus the teacher’s Aussie accent is soothing.
  • This is the only one I have used for secondary age, but I really like it (well, my kids do) so I’ve never felt the need to try any others. It’s great for children who struggle to learn maths by themselves from a textbook.
  • …yes, I agree. My dyslexic daughter can not learn from just reading a book. ConquerMaths worked for her.

DD, AWE discount Home Educator:
“I used ConquerMaths through AWE for a number of years with both my daughters. I loved how flexible the site was, so easy to keep track of what my girls were doing. I was impressed by the clarity of the teaching videos, theybe covered the topics in enough detail without being too long.”

Quote from NM on Facebook:
“We’ve used ConquerMaths for about 5 or 6 years, to support GCSE and IGCSE maths study (we had it originally as a CD ROM version and now a subscription through AWE). We love that it covers many years of maths up to and including A level, so we can dip in and out of the topics, use it as a supplement to whatever we are studying, and go back, if needed, to fill gaps. I definitely recommend it!”

Mr Ballantyne, Parent, UK:
“Thanks to ConquerMaths, my son has passed his GCSE Maths with an A* one year early! “

Parent, UK:
“I suggested to the girls a different platform but both were quite firm that they prefer ConquerMaths so….. To be honest in the 11 years of HE we have used nothing else, it’s very good too use.“

2. Adapts to individual needs
Most people don’t know what they don’t know (and who does know what they don’t know!) or what’s holding them back. By taking a ConquerMaths diagnostic test found at the beginning of most topics, they’ll be asked questions relevant to their level of ability to hone in on any areas where study should be focused. At the end of the test a clear report suggests video lessons specific to the needs of the learner.

4. Never forget a thing!
Each lesson is tested in an age appropriate manner. Randomly generated onscreen questions and activities make sure every lesson is absorbed and retained. Exam style worksheets make sure you’re super prepared for those inevitable exams.
